Thanks to the uber-switched up final weeks of P90X, today was my LAST Chest and Back EVER!!!!!! I totes brought it, so very hard. Check out these stats, man (and woman):
Day 1:
Total Pushups: 15 real, 124 knees
Total Pullups (assisted): 54
Weight used for back exercises: 10 lbs.
Day 66 (today):
Total Pushups: 98 real, 81 knees
Total Pullups (assisted): 77
Weight used for back exercises: 25 lbs.
In a nutshell....THIS PROGRAM WORKS! I am so excited with my body...and also very excited I never have to do Chest and Back again, lol.
Today is bittersweet in a much more serious way, too.......
Today is the last day ever that Jordan will be four. At 11 tomorrow morning, my little girl will be five. FIVE!!! Five is old to mommies. She read her very first sentance yesterday, too ("Dad fed the cat", for all who are interested). Went to buy her birthday gifts last night and got choked up that she's almost in the "big girl" shoes...she's already in "big girl" clothes...I sure do love her.
Jax peeps. April 8-13 I'll be in town with the fam. April 9th is Eric's birthday, but other than that, nothing huge planned. If you wanna hang, holler.

Yoga 90's style
Howdy.
So I've been lost on the internet most of the day (the why will be below), and then I snuck in some exercise. However, I have to be at work in less than an hour and a half and I haven't even showered yet. Needless to say, i'm short on time, but really want to get this blog in!
I'm 9 weeks into P90X. I've looked at some people's 60 day results (mine will be up Saturday), and I'm kinda irritated with my body. I see no difference between 30 days and now...the scale says the same thing even though the clothes are fitting better. I know I'm at a plateau and am about to bust through into gloriousness....but I'm not there now. I decided that it was time to not just confuse my muscles (the "secret ingrediant" of P90X), but it was time to confuse my brain.
I've done the YogaX dvd 12 times in the last 8 weeks. I know it like the back of my hand. I did it blindfolded last week (awesome experience!), and today I decided to self-instruct my yoga. I've got my breathing mastered to where I knew I wouldn't be cutting positions short or holding them too long...I was confident. And I blew myself away! I was sinking deeper in the warrior poses than I ever have...and I have a near perfect Bird Of Paradise (not in yogax, I added this one myself because I think it's the most awesome pose ever)...and the MUSIC I was listening to is what really got me there! I tuned in to a zen/ambient/slow trance Pandora station, and it led me to this album. Totally, TOTALLY awesome music. I was so in the zone it was crazy. Time flew by and I was sweating more than I ever have. HIGHLY reccomend this record for anyone who is into self-instructed yoga or perhaps teaches a class themselves.
And now I'm off to the races. Time to get ready for work. But check out that music, dude. Love it.
Also. If you have time, please educate yourself by watching one or all of the following documentaries. My world has been shaken.
**Food Matters
**The Future of Food (Best documentary I've ever seen. Ever)
**The Business of Making Babies (if we ever have any more kids, it will be at home with a midwife. This is coming from the chick who ran to the hospital with both of my kids, begging for an epidural asap. Changed woman, I am!)

Hello, blog.
A friend of mine called and left me a message telling me to update my blog. I love my friends.
Hello bloggy world. Hope you are as well if not better than the last time we met.
Some things I've learned since we last conversed:
* I am a documentary junkie. As a stay at home mom, finding an hour a day (sometimes during my workout) to educate myself has been very refreshing! At the same time, I will now forever boycott Walmart, am trying to make 50% of my diet raw, organic food, have changed my stance on steroids and gay marriage, and feel very manipulated by our government, lol.
* Some people like to run in silence. Not me. Some people like to run very fast. I'm not there yet. Some people like to run to slow, thought provoking music so as not to mess with their pace/stride. Not I. Me? I like a pace of about 6 miles an hour, and a playlist of nothing but Britney Spears guilty pleasure songs. Now that I've realized and accepted this, I am having a BLAST running a few times a week.
* P90X is incredible, and has certainly changed my life. However, working for Beachbody is what has really motivated me to get healthy and stay fit. This company is so inspirational, always growing and progressing, and they want their people to succeed. I pretty much love my side job. I am excited that in a matter of months, it will be my only job. I am hopeful and encouraged that within the next few years, it will be the only thing Eric and I have to do for financial stability.
* I really. really. REALLY. miss the beach. Lots. Am SO EXCITED for my trip to Florida in a month!!!!!!!
* With all the changes I've made in my life since 2011 started, I am kind of amazed that people feel I'm making bad decisions. Honestly. If because I've quit smoking, dropped cable, go to church, get up at 5:30, homeschool my daughter, some of my friendships don't receive the same dedication they used to, I am sorry. But I'm sorry that you're feeling hurt, not that I've made these choices. The strange thing is, it's people I wouldn't consider Best Friends...and at the same time, people I haven't spoken to in 10-15 years are reaching out and reconciling! God sure does move in some crazy ways.
60 day P90X pictures coming atcha on Saturday!
Today is my three year anniversary with my super awesome sweetie. Love to love him. Lots.

Day 6: A Picture of Your Most Treasured Item
So, I tried being all fancy and awesome photoggrapher-y, but I am NOT a photographer, nor do I have a camera capable of capturing what I wanted to capture. So I ripped this one from google images. :)
Also, dear Blogger: Why did you change the way you insert pictures? DNL. Love, Heather
NM. It's my fault. I had clicked on the Edit HTML button. I apologize, Blogger.
Have a splendid Thursday!

Day 6: A Picture of a Person You Would Love to Trade Places with for a Day
It's no one famous or rich or superwise....it's my little girl. To be 5 years old again and have the knowledge I do now...dude, I would have the best day EVER. I'd okay all day and take a nap and play in the bathtub....I love watching her watch the world...I want to have her passion and zest. She is such a precious inspiration.

Day 5: A Picture of Your Favorite Memory
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh! I should have read into this 30 day picture challenge a little better, because...um....ONE favorite memory? I'm married and have two kids, there's three favorites right off the bat! If I could only pick ONE, and I guess that's all I'm allowed, it would be this:
This was the day Eric and I were married, after painting the town, back in our hotel for the evening. That moment of realization that, "I am going to spend the rest of my life with you"....yeah. Best moment ever.
I've got a Cinnamon Crumb Coffee Cake in the oven for Eric and the peeps in his office (they got brownies last week, we love to spoil them), and they smell amazing! But rather than dig into THOSE, I'm going to knock out sme cardio...then maybe I won't feel too bad when I drink some coffee later.
After 6 weeks of not smoking, this weekend I had two glasses of wine and three cups of coffee and survived! Didn't even want the cigarette! And on Sunday night, a bunch of people around me were smoking and it was FINALLY gross to me...not the act, just the smell. but hey, baby steps!
I've also decided I'm not going to post 45 day pictures for P90X because I would rather wait and show some super dramatic 60 day pictures in two weeks. But I will be uploading a new vlog today...what about, you ask? Oh, you must WAIT!
The weather is super gross here today. I'm so ready to go back to Jax where it's hot and humid. I'm a freak, I know.
Happy Tuesday!

30 days catch up!
So I committed to this 30 days of pictures thingy without remembering....I was going out of town this weekend! I'm so awesome.
So, here I am to catch up!
Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest
To clarify: this is the bar I work at. I was not drinking last night, lol
Happy Monday everyone! Off to fold a mountain of laundry!! Yippee skippee!
Day 04 - A picture of your night
Day 03 - A picture of the cast from your favorite show
So, here I am to catch up!
Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest
We've known eachother for....15 years now? We were typical teenage girls, swinging between super best friends and plenty of years of silence. But she's my person. My very best girlfriend. I love her dearly, and always will.
Jillian and Bob for life. This show makes me cry every. single. week. Love watching people earn their lives back. It's amazing.
If you've never seen this show, you can never understand how brilliant television really can be. And I mean, BRILLIANT. This is the best show from start to finish I've ever seen. Love.
Jack Bauer. I don't need to explain anything else.
Buffffffffyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Saved the best for last. How often do guilty pleasures and television perfection meet? I'll tell you. Once. Right here.
Wait, my night? Like, last night? Um.......weird. But OK. Most likely looked like this:

So, today is Day One!
1. I was born a Patriots fan, converted to the Jags due to home residence in 1995, and converted back to the Pats when I married my husband, who is a Pats fan. A couple of the great things about being in this position is that I was born in Mass, so no one can say I am a bandwagoner, and my husband and I always agree on football (very important).
2. I've recently learned that by giving my life to God...like, REALLY giving Him my life, and saying, "Empty me of me and fill me with you," life is becoming more and more enjoyable!! I don't sweat small stuff, I feel organized, focused, and driven. And not as selfish (but that's a constant struggle!)
3. I have a really hot husband. No, really. Check him out. His innards match the outside, which is super awesome.
4. My kids are the the second and third funniest people I've ever met.
5. The first is my dad.
6. My daughter will be 5 next month, but she's starting Kindergarten next week! I've been looking forward to truly homeschooling her for years, and am so excited that the time is NOW!
7. Singing makes just about everything better for me. Specifically Idina Menzel.
8. I could survive on chocolate shakeology, peanut butter, and coconut milk. I think.
9. German is my favorite language, and I'd really like to become fluent.
10. I'm really excited to spend two days and nights with just my husband, starting this afternoon. Thanks Gammy!

A Break From The Norm
Ok, so today I am taking a break from posting about all things Beachbody. Unless something slips in, of course. :)
Today I want to talk about some of my favorite things!!
I think it's interesting how over the course of my life, my "favorite" things have changed so much. I feel like a lot of me is the same, but the things I love are so different from what they were 6 or 7 years ago! So, to show as such, I'm going to go through a list of my favorite things now, and place in parentheses what they were a few years back. I encourage you to do the same! It's pretty entertaining!
Favorite color: PINK. I LOVE pink. I used to loathe it. But now, there isn't a color that better represents me. (black)
Favorite book: Oh, so...so...SO HARD! I think for now I'd have to go with Pride and Prejudice. EVERYTHING about that book is sheer perfection. Unargueable perfection!!!! (The Poisonwood Bible. Which, to be fair, is still on my top ten list)
Favorite movie: Fight Club. Some things never change, shouldn't have to change, understandably don't change. This, I doubt, will ever change. (Fight Club)
Favorite pastime(s): Singing and Dancing with my kids, long, uninterupted bubble baths, a good workout, and social media (drinking, partying, eating out, being lazy).
Favorite foods: SHAKEOLOGY, thai fried rice or drunken noddles, mahi burgers, pasta (pickles, jamaican chicken and rice from Hops, pasta, Malibu)
Favorite Musicians: Pink, David Cook, Dave Matthews, Matt Nathanson, Erin McCarley, Sara Bareilles (Tool, A Perfect Circle, Dave Matthews, Zeppelin, and a little country)
How about YOU? I'd love if in the comments section you'd post your old and current favorites. Let me in! :)

Running, Stretching, and Coconut Milk
Hello bloggy friends!
I'm in Week 4 of p90x...decided that since this is "recovery" week (read: lots o'cardio, no strength training), I would introduce running back to my life. I'm running a 5k in May like I have for the last two years...first year I ran like a 37 minute (yeah, I walked a lot), and last year I ran like a 33 I think (not as much walking), but this year my goal is under 25 minutes. Between quitting smoking and getting healthy, I don't think it will be as hard as I originally thought. I decided to use Couch 25k to help me achieve my goal...by switching up it's instructions. I'm treating it as interval training, so rather than walking and then running, I'm running...and then running faster. :) I started yesterday, knocked out almost 3 miles in 30 minutes, and that's with 5 minutes walking to warm up and 5 minutes walking to cool down. I think I've got this!!! It felt great...and reinforced for me how important to my health it is to be smoke-free. <3
Along with lots of cardio this week, I get lots of yoga, which I love. Parts of me want to be a runner or a kick-boxer or something of that nature...when, at the heart of it, I am really a yoga girl. Stretching for the win! I'm looking forward to finding some even more intense yoga classes once I finish p90x.
Getting ready for my 5k has been heavily inspired by my newfound love for my chocolate shakeology with a quarter cup of light coconut milk...in fact, I'm drinking one RIGHT NOW!!!!! The absolute most delicious concoction out there, and the healthiest thing I can consume? Um, yes please!!!!!!
So, I'm off to do some yoga, but wanted to pop in and say hi, since it's been a couple weeks (Happy February, by the way!). Looking forward to posting my 30 day pictures on Wednesday next week!!!!

Shakeology vs. the World (or, at least my morning cup of joe)
I'm pretty sure I've told y'all about how my recent switch to Shakeology has negated my need for coffee. I'm talking, no headaches, no grogginess in the morning, not even a desire for caffiene...which is amazing in itself. And I've been feeling great, peppy, naturally energized, etc. Ha. Well, last night, I found out the nutritional comparisson between my chocolate shakeology and my regular Starbucks standby, a White Mochoa...sigh. If you don't want the truth, don't read on. This is sad....
Shakeology White Mochoa(Grande)
140 Calories 350 Calories
15 grams protein 9 grams protein
1 gram fat 13 grams fat
19 carbs 51 carbs
9 grams sugar 46 grams sugar
Like I said...sad. BUT so eye opening. I can't believe how many EMPTY calories and SUGAR I was letting in my body. And when I saw it, I had to share it. So often we get concerned with calorie counting and food journaling, but we leave out something like that morning cup of joe. Incredible.
In other news, I have a sick baby boy. Micah has NEVER been sick, never been on antibiotics, nothing. Two and a half years old...baby boy's been puking since yesterday. Bless his wee little heart. Fever has subsided with tylenol (one of a handful of times he's even taken THAT, he passed out on the couch afterwards, and there's no alcohol in it! Sweet thing), and he hasn't returned any food since last night...we'll see how a light lunch goes. He's my total snuggle buddy, and while I love the snuggles, I just want him to be better!
I am going to start vlogging. Yes, it's true. I'll be uploading them directly to my facebook community page until I get my youtube channel up and going...but since I'm doing P90X right NOW, I think it will help me stay motivated to vlog my experience...maybe it will motivate you, too!!!
I've already decided that one of my gifts to self when I reach my goal weight is a banging new pair of heels. I am thinking of these right now:
I loooooove shoes, but can hardly afford new ones. But these shall be mine...just you wait!
How's YOUR January going? Anything exciting in the land of you?
But these shall be mine...just you wait!

p90x week twoish/goal setting!
Hello bloggy friends! It's been a minute since I've blogged, but it's been rater intentional.
I am in my second week of p90x, but it's my first real week. If there's anything I've learned from doing this program before, it's that my body needs an "introduction to muscle confusion" week. I am so sore after a few workouts that I give my body time to heal before jumping into the 13 week program.
So today is day four of week one. Yoga! I have been carefully following the p90x diet plan (hello proteins, bye bye carbs for 30 days), and, though not terribly surprised, am so motivated by how it aids results. The complexity of the diet plan results in ridiculous muscle building the first 30 days followed by ripping out the fat and giving way to enormous endurance as the program continues. I've only dropped two pounds, but I've gained the same in muscle, and am already starting to get ripped. Eric is excited, too. We've chosen our celebrity "goal" bodies...mine being Pink's ala her Funhouse tour, and Eric's being Hannibal King. I know that it will take a few different programs and many months before I am where I want to be, but goodness: the journey is so exciting!!!
I am also a changed woman in a mental sense. Chalene Johnson's 30 day challenge to getting organized and reaching goals has literally changed my life, almost overnight. For information about the program, you can go here: I Love Chalene!!
I have set 10 goals for the next twelve months that a few weeks ago were simply hopes. They are now, each and every one, completely attainable, and I'm taking steps every day to do so. If you feel sluggish, or that you could be more focused, I cannot stress enough how much this has helped me.
That, and Shakeology!!!! I've gotta say man, this stuff is incredible. No coffee for 2 weeks, and not a single headache. and regularity? ha. Activia has nothing on my coconut chocolate shakeology!!! :)
I've chosen Jordan's curriculum for her first year of school. We are going to do Phonics, Math, US History, and Sign Language. She is excited and so am I! We're ordering it in March, and I don't imagine we'll be able to wait until the fall to get started!
And then there's the annual Race for Hope in DC! I am so excited that it's right around the corner again. A time to be with friends from so far away, running together for a cause close to all of us. My page for the race will be up son and I'll be certain to post it.
Well, this little fluttering housewife has a lot planned for the day. How about you? What's on tap for your weekend?

P90X and Coaching
So I started P90X again yesterday. Whew. I hurt so good today...though am terrified for my workout later.
See, the first day of P90X is Chest and Back. An hour of pushups and pullups. I have such a love/hate relationship with this workout, because it's where I always see the quickest gains - and I am always most sore after this one the next day. I also had to do Ab Ripper yesterday, which is pretty much the most brilliant ab routine ever. It's only16 minutes long, and it's just amazing.
Today is Plyometrics. An hour of jumping and squatting and jumping again. The serious fat burner. I haven't done this workout in over a year, because when I did p90x last summer, I supplemented Plyo with Cardio. I thought I was too big to really get through Plyo. But not this time. All the way, baby.
Along with doing p90x again, we're actually following the nutrition plan that accompanies it. When Eric and I did p90x last summer, we watched what we ate, but didn't follow the guide. I am so excited to see the results now that we are sticking to the books AND drinking Shakeology.
I do feel great, and I know it stays. It used to take me weeks to talk myself into starting a program, but not anymore. Now that I know how great I can feel and how good I can look following a program like this, I'll just never go back.
The Shakeology has been such a game changer! Yesterday morning I literally cleaned my coffee pot and put it away for special occasions only! ME!!!!!!!!! I used to drink 5 cups a day! Not anymore. Shakeology's nutrients give me so much energy...and it's so much more natural than caffiene. I am just. so. in. LOVE!
In other news, I also became a Beachbody Coach, which I'm very excited about. I didn't do it for the money at all...I did it because although it might sound silly, I just want to be as involved as I can be with this wonderful company. I want to help people change their lives for the better as well as hold myself accountable to do the same.
I've written down several goals over the past few days due to a 30 day challenge with Chalene Johnson I'm participating in (Chalene is a social media guru, Organization Queen, and fitness trainer extraordinaire). Yesterday we were asked to share our "push" goal (dominating goal of all other goals) for the next 12 months with people. So, even though it might not seem attainable initially, I have drive, and I'm GOING TO DO IT. Ready?
By January 2012, I will be a Diamond Coach with Beachbody.
Whew. It took a lot out of me to type that.
Now, for those of you who are unaware of what a Diamond Coach is, you're probably rather unexcited about my goal. To keep it simple, it's a level I want to reach within my company, based on coaches under me and products sold. Some people do it in 4 months. Some take 2 years. Some never do. A year is ambitious, but I'm stoked. I know I can do this.
A shorter term, simpler goal, is that I will lose 25 pounds by May 1. All the encouragement you want to throw at me is greatly appreciated. :)
Today is a fun day in the Vollman house. Little Madden comes to play with the kids on Thursdays. I think I've talked about him before. What a sweet kid, man. I love THursdays, because (as awful as it sounds), I'm so un-needed. The kids play so well together that I'm not getting 50 questions every five minutes; they just get lost in their world of make believe. And mommy gets lost in a world of bleach, windex, lysol, and laundry. What a wonderful world.
I hope everyone is having a great day, a great start to 2011.

Abercrombie Shorts and Coin Laundry
Brandon,
I won't say something cliche like, "I never got to say goodbye", because...well, we haven't talked in almost 6 years. I am sorry we lost touch, as it seems you did with so many of us over the years. But rather than grieve, I want to celebrate you; all the memories you left with me.
I'll never foraget the night that you, me, and Adrienne decided to sneak into Victoria Park's pool after hours and go swimming completely clothed. It wasn't until after the plunge that I realized I had NOTHING else to wear. So you "leant" me you white Abercrombie shorts. Those shorts are still in my dresser drawer. I meant to send them home with Adrienne when she came to visit four years ago. Now I'm kind of glad I didn't.
One of the stories I always tell people when asked about a crazy experience with law enforcement took place the night Adrienne and I drove to your new place off Gate Parkway when that road was still brand new. I always started with, "This one night on my way to Brandon's..."
Which also happened to be the same night that Adrienne and I stayed up with you and Robert all night and had to work a double the next day. god, that was agonizing.
Thanks for being my laundry mat partner for a time. I was so horrendous at doing laundry at the time that it took the better part of my day at that place...which was always more pleasant with your company. Those were our best talks for sure. I remember telling you of my "dark passenger" once while we were there (No, Dexter fans, I'm not a serial killer), and that you never judged me for my choices nor did you ever breathe a word about it to anyone else. If anything, you made it easier for me to connect with a part of myself I was just discovering, and I'm grateful for the experiences gained because of it.
And when Hops clsoed, you were with us at Cheesecake. You always wore that ugly pink tie. And I lvoed you for it.
You've been heavy on my heart for weeks now, and I couldn't believe when I heard yesterday that you left us over four months ago. I've searched for the how and why to no avail. it seems that everyone we were connected to mutually knows nothing about it. I can't say I have peace about it yet...I'm hoping that closure comes soon.
Wherever you are, I know that you have wings, dear friend.
Heather
--------------------
As you can see from above, I lost a long lost friend a few months ago and didn't know until last night.
I don't plan on speaking any more about it; please understand that writing letters to those who have passed is a way I build towards closure.
-------------------
My three day cleanse is complete. I lost a total of 2.8 pounds and almost three inches. I'm comfortable in my size 8 Express Jeans for the first time in three years! My weight this morning was 156.4...only 31 pounds from my ultimate goal. Shakeology has completed redefined my day. I went three days without coffee or caffiene of any kind and never had a slight headache. It's an amazing product; simply amazing.
I'm busting out p90x on Wednesday. Day One!!!! So excited to bring it and keep pushing play every day for 3 months...the results are going to blow everyone's mind, and most likely get me to my goal weight/size by the middle of April. Not to mention that I will absolutely be the healthiest I've ever been!
My sweet, dear secret visitor arrives today. My stomach is doing jumping jacks of joy.
Happy last day of regular football season everyone! GO PATS!
Love,
Heather, the woman who loves the Patriots so much that her son's middle name is Brady, and her next pet will absolutely be named Bruschi. :)
